A few of my favorite books and short stories:
James Patterson's ~Hide & Seek~
I first read this book when I was 14, I am now 38 and have re-read this book over five times probably, and will continue to do so until the end of my days finally claims me.
J.R. Moehringer's ~The Tender Bar~
This is the first memoir I've probably ever finished reading, that I wasn't forced to read outside of the halls and walls of the education system. I connected with it right away. I bought it in paperback and then bought it again on audiobook form with the author narrating. He has a perfect voice, has a way of talking just to you. I connected with it so much because I grew up in a bar myself as a kid. My Dad owned one for a number of years and I'd find myself helping stomp on empty cardboard beer cases with him and rolling billiard balls into the holes. The clink, clink, clinking is such a nostalgic sound for me even now, it takes me back.

A few of my favorite short stories that really dug their heels into me:
Charlotte Perkins Gilman's ~The Yellow Wallpaper~
This short story should come with a warning label: You will feel a little insane reading this.
Robert Olen Butler's ~Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot~
How the author can bring you to tears of sadness to tears of laughter is a talent I have yet to reach or know for myself.
Joyce Carol Oates ~Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?~
Saying anything more would ruin the experience of reading it for yourself.
