The Great American Novel Cover

I have been working on The Great American since November of 2005. Up until that point I had been trying to write a novel. For some reason I would end up bored to tears around 30 or 70 pages and would toss the whole idea. And then I took Creative Writing 101 with Professor James Harms. He was maybe the only Professor at WVU that wanted us to call him Jim. Which I thought was so cool.

The assignment was to write a short story. And his tip in case the cat got our tongue and hands, was to take our favorite book and focus on what we felt that book was missing, and to create the entire story based on that missing element. Which I thought was genius, because I had a favorite book and that book is still my favorite book from the age of 14 until today at 38. *James Patterson's Hide & Seek*

This is the second time I have used this woman on fiverr. That sounds kind of not how I intended it to sound :D This is the second time she has worked on a cover for me. The other book I have yet to polish up and finish, but at least the cover will be done.

It took a few versions to get it completely where I wanted it to be. But she was amazing at implementing what I was envisioning. I just wasn't completely clear on what my vision was. Her link on fiverr.com is https://www.fiverr.com/pro_ebookcovers if you are interested in contacting her for your own eBook or physical book cover. She has 35,457 reviews and is rated at a 5, which is the highest rating. And you are able to see a number of her eBook covers on her page as well as in some of the reviews that are left on her page.

The photo that I bought was on https://www.gettyimages.com/. I have also used dreamstime.com for other book covers that have turned out really well, but have yet to see the light of day. I ended up buying the smallest image, but if the proof book that I ordered doesn't look right, I will order the bigger picture.

I always go for the Premium package that pro_ebookcovers offers, with all the bells and whistles, which comes to $40 and maybe some tax, I can't remember the exact figure. You get a back and spine with that option, and every package comes with unlimited revisions, which is really great.

If you'd like to drop some feedback on me in the comments about the cover, please do. At first I was thinking that I wanted to disguise his face completely, but I like the way it is still there but is covered up by the title of the book. The light and dark side of the book really reflects the dichotomy of his light and darker self. In this photo the text is a little blurred, because of the way the photo transferred, but it is clear in the original.
